Caring for your Musou piece
Each Musou garment is hand-finished with delicate beading, embroidery or fine fabric, and is intended to be worn again, styled differently, and loved for years. A little care goes a long way.
Cleaning
We recommend professional dry cleaning for all embellished, beaded or silk pieces. Choose a dry cleaner experienced with hand-embroidered or beaded garments, and point out any embellishment before they begin.
Do not machine wash, tumble dry or iron directly onto beading, sequins or embroidery — direct heat can melt threads and loosen stitching.
For small marks, blot gently with a clean, dry cloth. Avoid rubbing, and avoid water or spot-cleaning products on embellished areas, as they can leave a ring or dull the beadwork.
Steaming
A garment steamer on a low setting, held a few centimetres away from the fabric, is the safest way to release creases. Test on an inside seam first. Avoid steaming directly onto beaded or sequinned areas — steam from a slight distance instead, letting it settle over the piece.
Storage
Store on a padded or wide hanger to support the shoulders and keep the silhouette. Use a breathable garment bag rather than plastic, which can trap moisture.
Keep out of direct sunlight, as prolonged light exposure can fade colour, particularly on silk. Allow embellished pieces room in the wardrobe so beading and embroidery are not compressed against other garments.
Before the first wear
We recommend trying your piece on and steaming it a day or two before your event, rather than the day of, so any last creases have time to settle.
